I'm off on holiday and thought I'd share the historical books both fiction and non-fiction, that I plan to read, more for pleasure than research, whilst I'm away.
I'm on a panel at Thames Valley History Festival on 7th November with Vanora Bennett and Joanna Hickson, talking about Tudor Brides – from first to last (two Katherine's a century apart). Katherine Parr of my novel QUEEN'S GAMBIT is the last and Catherine de Valois is the first. She features in both Vanora Bennett's BLOOD ROYAL and Joanna Hickson's THE AGINCOURT BRIDE, so I'm looking forward to reading them both. I've pre-ordered TUDOR: THE FAMILY STORY by Leanda de Lisle and can't wait for it to arrive on my Kindle on 29th August (a birthday present to myself) Finally, I'm lucky enough to have got my sticky paws on a proof of Conn Iggulden's STORMBIRD – first in his Wars of the Roses series. I'll let you know my thoughts on my return and if you've read any of them I'd love to know yours. Click on the images to go to the authors' websites
